In 2019 near Washington DC, I lost the person who meant the world to me — my brother, Eduardo. After years of struggling to make ends meet, the decision to leave was made. At the time, Eduardo was just 25. The separation happened because of a traffic stop that turned into a detention in Washington DC. The thing that haunts me is remembering the smell of fresh bread that would fill the kitchen every Saturday. Our last contact was 2020. Since then, complete silence.
