Samira — lost during the war in Kandahar, 2002

Samira is my grandmother. We have been separated since 2002. This is my last hope to find them. The refugee camp became home for months before we could move on. When the collapse of the building next to ours happened, everything changed in an instant. I remember Samira as someone who would tell stories to the children to keep them calm during the bombing. I cherish the memory of dancing in the kitchen to old records that belonged to our grandparents. Someone who knew them mentioned seeing them in 2003. A fellow refugee mentioned seeing someone matching their description in a camp near Melbourne. Samira would now be approximately 40 years old. They were compact build, thick eyebrows, always well-groomed, with a tattoo of a bird on the left forearm. There's a hole in our family that only they can fill. If anyone has information about Samira, I beg you to contact us. War took everything from us. Please don't let it take this last chance.
