In 1997 near Los Angeles, I lost the person who meant the world to me — my father, Gabriela.
The corruption and violence left us with no safe options at home. Gabriela had just turned 14 when it happened.
Everything fell apart during a raid on the workplace in Los Angeles.
The thing that haunts me is remembering playing soccer in the dusty field behind our neighborhood.
Our last contact was 2003. Every lead has gone cold.
Gabriela would be around 43 years old now. I'd recognize them anywhere — tall for the family, around 5'10", with an easy grin.
I still keep their photo in my wallet, worn and faded but precious. If anyone has any information about Gabriela, please reach out. Any detail, no matter how small, could bring us back together.
