Searching for my friend Jose, separated at the US border in 2008

My friend Jose and I were separated in 2008 during what was supposed to be a routine stop near Houston. That was the last time I saw them. The corruption and violence left us with no safe options at home. At the time, Jose was just 39. Everything fell apart during a traffic stop that turned into a detention in Houston. The thing that haunts me is remembering Sunday mornings when the whole family would cook together. Our last contact was 2022. Since then, complete silence. Jose would be around 57 years old now.
