Yewande — if you see this, your family in Nigeria is looking for you

It has been 32 years since my mother Yewande disappeared from our lives. I refuse to give up searching. After years of instability, the chance to emigrate seemed like our only option. Yewande, then 32, left with the blessing of the whole family. Communication was sporadic but hopeful. Yewande described Dallas as overwhelming but full of opportunity. They were working hard, sleeping little, but always asking about everyone back home. There was a brief call in 2021. The phone number was disconnected and we had no other way to reach them. What I miss most is playing soccer in the dusty field behind our neighborhood. Yewande would be around 64 today. compact build, thick eyebrows, always well-groomed.
