Zahra — lost during the war in Kandahar, 2017

Zahra is my friend. We have been separated since 2017. This is my last hope to find them. In the chaos of the evacuation, we lost each other in the crowd. During the collapse of the building next to ours, Zahra was separated from the rest of us. I remember Zahra as someone who would tell stories to the children to keep them calm during the bombing. I cherish the memory of staying up late telling stories by flashlight when the power went out. Our last contact was 2023. Someone told us they might have made it to London, but we could never confirm it. Zahra would now be approximately 36 years old. I would recognize them anywhere — thin and wiry, always moved with quick energy. The not knowing is worse than any bad news could be. If anyone has information about Zahra, I beg you to contact us. We have registered with every tracing service we could find.
