Adopted in 1981 from Barranquilla — hoping to reconnect with birth family

In 1981, I was placed for adoption in Barranquilla and raised in New York. I've always known I was adopted, and I've always wondered about my birth family. From what I've been able to learn, I was in the care of a local orphanage in Barranquilla before being adopted. I don't know much about my birth family. The adoption records mention a young mother who wanted more for their child than they could provide. I don't judge them. I understand that it must have been an impossible situation. I've connected with other adoptees from Colombia through support groups. Some have found their families. I'm hoping I will too.
