Adopted in 2008 from Dire Dawa — hoping to reconnect with birth family

In 2008, I was placed for adoption in Dire Dawa and raised in Portland. I've always known I was adopted, and I've always wondered about my birth family. I was placed through a state-run children's home. The records are incomplete, but I know I came from Dire Dawa. I don't know much about my birth family. The adoption records mention a young couple who was unable to care for a child at the time. I don't judge them. I understand that it must have been an impossible situation. I've connected with other adoptees from Ethiopia through support groups. Some have found their families. I'm hoping I will too.
