My heart has had a hole in it since 2021, when my sister Jose disappeared from our lives.
We joined the caravan hoping for safety in numbers. Jose had just turned 3 when it happened.
We were caught up in the family was separated during immigration enforcement in Houston.
The thing that haunts me is remembering Sunday mornings when the whole family would cook together.
