My father Gloria and I were separated in 2018 during what was supposed to be a routine stop near Phoenix. That was the last time I saw them.
Violence in our hometown made staying impossible. Gloria was 18 years old at the time.
The separation happened because of attempting to cross through the desert near Phoenix.
What I miss most is staying up late telling stories by flashlight when the power went out.
