Looking for my brother Carlos — emigrated from Colombia to the US

In 2006, my brother Carlos moved to New Jersey. For the first couple of years, everything seemed fine. Then silence. The promise of a better life in America was irresistible, even knowing the risks. Carlos was 24 when they left. Strong-willed, determined, and full of hope. Communication was steady at first — weekly calls, photos of New Jersey, stories about the new life. Carlos seemed to be adapting well, working in day labor, making friends slowly. There was a brief call in 2016. We heard through a mutual acquaintance that Carlos had moved to a different city, but we don't know which one. Carlos had a way of keeping the family together through sheer force of love.
