It has been 18 years since my sister Amadu disappeared from our lives. I refuse to give up searching.
Ethnic tensions in our region made it dangerous to stay. Amadu was 36 at the time, full of hope and determination.
Communication was sporadic but hopeful. Amadu described Atlanta as overwhelming but full of opportunity. They were working hard, sleeping little, but always asking about everyone back home.
Our last contact was 2019. The phone number was disconnected and we had no other way to reach them.
What I miss most is the way they would hum while doing chores around the house.
Amadu would be around 54 today. average height, lean build, with curly black hair. There's a hole in our family that only they can fill. Please, if you know anything about Amadu, reach out. A mother is waiting to hear from her child.
