Camila, my family member, left Maracaibo in 2010 heading for Houston. That was the last chapter I know of their story. When the government collapsed, getting out became the only option. Camila was 40 when they left. Strong-willed, determined, and full of hope. Communication was steady at first — weekly calls, photos of Houston, stories about the new life. Camila seemed to be adapting well, working in factory work, making friends slowly. A friend saw them around 2011. We heard through a mutual acquaintance that Camila had moved to a different city, but we don't know which one. I still remember the way they could fix anything with duct tape and determination with Camila. I hold onto those moments like a lifeline.
