Romania adoptee looking for biological roots — born around 1961

My life began in Iasi. In 1961, I was adopted and brought to Chicago. I have a wonderful life, but there's a gap in my history I'm trying to fill. The adoption was arranged through a church-run orphanage. My adoptive parents traveled to Iasi to bring me home. My adoptive parents have always been open about my adoption. They told me what little they knew: that my birth family couldn't provide for another child. That knowledge has always made me want to reach out, not with anger, but with gratitude. I've connected with other adoptees from Romania through support groups. Some have found their families. I'm hoping I will too. If you are my birth family member, or if you know someone from Iasi who placed a child for adoption around 1961, please know: I am doing well. I am at peace. I would love nothing more than to know you, but I respect whatever boundaries you need. My children ask about them, and I don't have answers to give.
