I am an adoptee, born in Incheon around 2006. For as long as I can remember, I've carried questions about where I came from.
From what I've been able to learn, I was in the care of a government adoption program in Incheon before being adopted.
Growing up, I always felt something was missing. Not love — my adoptive family gave me plenty of that. But identity. Where do my eyes come from? My laugh? My stubborn streak? These are questions only my birth family can answer.
I've connected with other adoptees from South Korea through support groups. Some have found their families. I'm hoping I will too.
