6 years searching for my family member Emeka from Tamale

My family member Emeka set out from Tamale in 2020 to build a better life. The plan was for the rest of us to follow. We never did, and somewhere along the way we lost contact. The conflict in our region displaced our entire community. Emeka, then 28, left with the blessing of the whole family. For the first 13 months, we received occasional calls. Emeka was working in meat packing plants in Manchester and seemed to be doing okay. They talked about sending money home, about eventually bringing us over. Someone who knew them mentioned seeing them in 2024. After that, silence. No calls, no messages, nothing. I remember playing soccer in the dusty field behind our neighborhood with Emeka. Those are the memories I hold onto. Emeka would be around 34 today. small-framed but tough, with sharp features. I still keep their photo in my wallet, worn and faded but precious.
