Born in Kyiv, adopted to United States — looking for biological parents

I am an adoptee, born in Kyiv around 1979. For as long as I can remember, I've carried questions about where I came from. From what I've been able to learn, I was in the care of a state-run children's home in Kyiv before being adopted. My adoptive parents have always been open about my adoption. They told me what little they knew: that my birth family couldn't provide for another child. That knowledge has always made me want to reach out, not with anger, but with gratitude. I've tried DNA testing, online registries, and even hired a researcher who specializes in Ukraine adoptions. Each lead brings me a little closer, but I haven't found the answer yet.
