Please help me find Carolina, my brother — somewhere in the USA

Carolina, my brother, left Ambato in 2007 heading for Chicago. That was the last chapter I know of their story. Political instability and violence made it impossible to stay. At 54, Carolina was old enough to know the risks but young enough to believe it was worth it. The first year was full of phone calls and video chats. Carolina showed us their tiny apartment in Chicago, introduced us to their coworkers, talked about their plans. We felt connected despite the distance. The phone number stopped working around 2009. We heard through a mutual acquaintance that Carolina had moved to a different city, but we don't know which one. I still remember playing soccer in the dusty field behind our neighborhood with Carolina. I hold onto those moments like a lifeline. Carolina would be around 73 now. heavyset, with a booming laugh and gentle eyes. My children ask about them, and I don't have answers to give.
