In 2001 near Washington DC, I lost the person who meant the world to me — my father, Alejandro.
Gang threats forced the family to flee with nothing but the clothes on our backs. Alejandro had just turned 20 when it happened.
Everything fell apart during the family was separated during immigration enforcement in Washington DC.
What I miss most is playing soccer in the dusty field behind our neighborhood.
There was a brief call in 2016. Since then, complete silence.
Alejandro would be around 45 years old now. I'd recognize them anywhere — tall for the family, around 5'10", with an easy grin.
The not knowing is worse than any bad news could be. If anyone has any information about Alejandro, please reach out. Any detail, no matter how small, could bring us back together.
