Searching for my birth family from Guatemala, adopted in 1987

In 1987, I was placed for adoption in Quetzaltenango and raised in Houston. I've always known I was adopted, and I've always wondered about my birth family. From what I've been able to learn, I was in the care of a church-run orphanage in Quetzaltenango before being adopted. Growing up, I always felt something was missing. Not love — my adoptive family gave me plenty of that. But identity. Where do my eyes come from? My laugh? My stubborn streak? These are questions only my birth family can answer. I've connected with other adoptees from Guatemala through support groups. Some have found their families. I'm hoping I will too. If you are my birth family member, or if you know someone from Quetzaltenango who placed a child for adoption around 1987, please know: I am doing well. I am at peace. I would love nothing more than to know you, but I respect whatever boundaries you need. I promised myself I would find them before it's too late.
