I'm looking for Veronika, my brother. We were living in Lviv when the chaos when the air raid sirens wouldn't stop tore our family apart. Veronika was 37 years old at the time. They refused to leave at first, believing the situation would improve. I made it to Germany through Romania. From Berlin, I've been contacting every refugee organization, every volunteer group, every social media page dedicated to finding missing Ukrainians. I would recognize Veronika anywhere. broad-shouldered, strong hands, with a weathered face. eyes that changed color slightly in different light. I remember dancing in the kitchen to old records that belonged to our grandparents with Veronika. Our life in Lviv before the war was peaceful. We never imagined it would come to this.
