Adopted in 1982 from Hefei — hoping to reconnect with birth family

I am an adoptee, born in Hefei around 1982. For as long as I can remember, I've carried questions about where I came from. From what I've been able to learn, I was in the care of a private adoption agency in Hefei before being adopted. My adoptive parents have always been open about my adoption. They told me what little they knew: that my birth family couldn't provide for another child. That knowledge has always made me want to reach out, not with anger, but with gratitude. I've connected with other adoptees from China through support groups. Some have found their families. I'm hoping I will too. I would love nothing more than to know you, but I respect whatever boundaries you need. Every time I see someone who looks like them on the street, my heart stops for a moment.
