Looking for Valentina — lost during border crossing 2001

I'm looking for my grandfather, Valentina. In 2001, our family was torn apart near New York. One moment we were together, the next we were being pulled in different directions. After years of struggling to make ends meet, the decision to leave was made. Valentina was 52 years old at the time. The separation happened because of the chaos at the border processing center in New York. The thing that haunts me is remembering staying up late telling stories by flashlight when the power went out. The last time we heard anything was 2010. Every lead has gone cold. Valentina would be around 77 years old now. I'd recognize them anywhere — compact build, thick eyebrows, always well-groomed. My children ask about them, and I don't have answers to give.
