In 2022 near Houston, I lost the person who meant the world to me — my aunt, Diego.
Violence in our hometown made staying impossible. At the time, Diego was just 42.
The separation happened because of the sudden deportation order carried out in Houston.
I remember the smell of fresh bread that would fill the kitchen every Saturday with Diego.
The last time we heard anything was 2023. Since then, complete silence.
Diego would be around 46 years old now. I'd recognize them anywhere — thin and wiry, always moved with quick energy.
I still keep their photo in my wallet, worn and faded but precious. If anyone has any information about Diego, please reach out. Our family will never be complete without them.
